Scary Dinner

I often find myself being a little jealous of residents of San Francisco, NYC, and Portland because (at least according to the bloggers) there’s a lot of super-cool stuff to do. This weekend however, I learned there’s cool stuff in Michigan too.
The Homer Mill restaurant and haunted house are nationally ranked, and I can attest that this was one of the coolest dining experiences ever! The food, service, and prices rocked, and so did the skeletons suspended from the ceiling. At random intervals throughout the meal, a spider would drop from the ceiling or chains would rattle creepily overhead.
In another area of the restaurant, and 14′ sleeping giant will sometimes wake, rise, fart, and tell a story. Just beyond the giant is a really nice dance floor and stage, with a terrific sound system for local bands to jam out.
Inside the haunted house are several really gory and definitely scary hydraulic-operated scenes depicting cannibalism, electrocution, torture, and even vomiting. Some of them even spray visitors with a fine mist of “blood”, which is really just water.
The haunted house itself was only 1/3 open, with the rest scheduled to open in late August. I don’t suggest you wait that long though; the place had a pretty decent crowd and come Halloween, you’d better expect a wait.
